ONE WEEK LEFT, ABSTRACTIONS, AND A SALE!

Getting ready to dismantle the biggest exhibit I've done so far at the end of the week, figuring out the best way to encourage a few more purchases, and a peek at a few of the images from the ABSTRACTIONS collection....

It is with a sad (and somewhat disbelieving) heart that I realized yesterday that there is only one week left for my exhibit, VARIANCE,  to be on the walls at tbd LOFT.  It feels very strange to be facing it's conclusion after so much work and buildup to the First Friday event on February 5.  It has been a great experience and I am very thankful for the opportunity that was originally extended to me by Elizabeth Quinn (editor of High Desert Journal) wayback somewhere in February or March of 2009.  At the time, Elizabeth was coordinating the various First Friday events and exhibits at tbd LOFT.  She took a chance on a completely unknown photographer and gave me the motivation to work toward an exhibit in one of the best art gallery spaces in Bend.  Since that moment, I was thinking about trying to fill up the space, at times with feelings close to despair and panic!  That need to produce high quality collections from my various ideas drove me to find new themes and likely was instrumental in crystallizing my PORTALS concept into an actual body of work.  Thanks Elizabeth!!

As I figure out how to transport and store the left over images from this show, I am considering what will be next.  I have a few more ideas that are coming together and branching out into the event photography world...working on scheduling the second wedding shoot so far this year.  I have my sights set on Portland and Corvallis as well.  It has been nice to take a bit of a breather, however.
I have been wrestling with the idea of offering a reduced rate on my images in this last week.  Sort of a sale idea, which is been interesting to contemplate.  On one hand it feels like a good idea to help motivate people to invest in some quality artwork--on the other hand, I worry that I'm going to end up sounding like a big-box store advertisement..."20% OFF...HUGE SAVINGS...FINAL WEEK...STEP RIGHT UP!!!,  etc. etc."

BTW...These shots are from the ABSTRACTIONS collection.  They are photographs of various textures and surfaces found throughout the industrial landscape.  They have been cropped and post-processed to varying degrees to enhance contrast, tone, and saturation of color.  These have been extremely satisfying to create!  All images are archival pigment prints mounted on acid-free gesso mounts 18x24 or 12x36 and 2 inch depth.  The mounts are designed to "float" on the wall surface for a modern and clean presentation.

So, in closing...if you head up to tbd LOFT this week to have a look, send me an email inquiry...you will find out that there is DEFINITELY a sale going on!
